PRISM NGRIP Greenland Expedition 2003

PRISM (Polar Radar for Ice Sheet Measurements) is a project from the University of Kansas with as main goal to develop and utilize innovative radar and robotic rovers to measure ice thickness and determine bedrock conditions below the ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica. In 2003 measurements were made at the remote NGRIP site in central Greenland (see figure below). The Remote Sensing Lab of Byrd Polar Research Center participated in this project.
